Linux Meego Laptop ‎

Hp Nokia - Kerja sama antara Intel dan Nokia untuk menyatukan pengembangan platform berbasis open source tidak berhenti di perangkat smartphone. Platform Meego yang merupakan gabungan Intel Moblin dan Nokia Maemo ternyata akan segera merambah laptop dan desktop standar.

Edisi pertama Meego telah dirilis untuk para pengembang pada akhir Maret 2010. Salah satu edisi memang didesain untuk bekerja di perangkat Nokia N900. Satu edisi lainnya dirancang bekerja untuk netbook dengan prosesor Intel Atom.

"Setelah netbook dan smartphone, perusahaan kami juga fokus mengembangkan Meego untuk desktop yang menggunakan prosesor Intel Atom," kata Doug Fisher, Wakil Presiden Unit Bisnis Software dan Layanan Intel, seperti dilansir PCWorld, Rabu (21/4/2010). Ia mengatakan, sejumlah vendor komputer telah mendukung platform ini, seperti Acer dan Asus.

Tak hanya itu, lanjut Fisher, pihaknya juga mengembangkan Meego untuk notebook dan desktop yang bekerja dengan prosesor lebih canggih berbasis Core. Meego juga akan dikembangkan untuk perangkat lain, seperti TV dan set top box. Namun, Fisher tak memastikan kapan hal tersebut terwujud. Smartphone berbasis Meego akan hadir mulai Oktober 2010 dan untuk netbook mulai kuartal kedua tahun ini.
